Main strategic goal

The strategic goal of OP Environment for the period 2014-2020 is to contribute to the implementation of the Union's strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and to the economic, social and territorial cohesion.

Specific objectives
  • Protecting and improving the water quality;
  • Improving the assessment of the water quality;
  • Reducing the amount of landfilled household waste;
  • Improving the conservation status of species and habitats in the NATURA 2000 network;
  • Preventing and managing the risk of floods and landslides;
  • Improving the ambient air quality.

Investment priorities:
  • Constructing water supply and sewerage infrastructure - the funds will be directed to agglomerations of over 10,000 residents;
  • Completing and/or optimizing water monitoring networks;
  • Securing equipment of EEA Laboratories and State Health Authorities for the purpose of monitoring;
  • Implementing activities aimed at developing new and/or updating existing strategic documents related to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). Priority Axis 1

To achieve compliance with the waste management hierarchy, in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the objectives set out in the national legislation, funding will be provided to measures aimed at improving the management of household waste in conformity with the National Waste Management Plan

To achieve compliance with Directive 92/43/EEC, Directive 2009/147 EC and Directive, and the EU 2020 Biodiversity Strategy (Objectives 1 and 2), funds will be invested in measures and actions under the National Prioritized Action Framework (NPAF) for the NATURA 2000 Network.
